Zelda was welcomed into the Dalgart family on a crisp autumn morning, just a week after her parents, Lance and Jessica, got married. The two proud parents were anxious to start a family, and had always dreamed of having a dachshund together. When searching dachshund rescue websites, they found Zelda on Delgadog.com and instantly fell in love. Both Lance and Jessica gushed, “Awww!!! Zelda!” when they saw her sweet face and petite frame. At only 9.5 pounds, this miniature long-haired dachshund is definitely a little lady. And her personality is just as ladylike. Zelda is polite, loves to cuddle, and gets along well with other dogs and people. Although she is very mellow and would sleep in her owners’ bed all day if they allowed her, she also loves to scamper about in grass and go on walks in downtown Willow Glen. Her favorite treat is Trader Joes Peanut Butter doggie treats and her favorite music is Weezer and the Sirius “Spa” channel. Jessica and Lance plan on spoiling her and taking her on many trips.

This blog is absolutely wonderful! Congratulations and thank you so much for rescuing Zelda. I wish there were more people like you. We have 3 mini doxies and just love them. They, too, love to cuddle, burrow into any blanket that happens to be around and chase squirrels. I know you will love her more and more as time goes on. We also have 3 Chinese Shar-Pei and they all get along with the doxies. They all run and carry on and when they all get going, it can get pretty chaotic but so much fun. (We also do some Shar-Pei rescue and really do mean “thank you” for rescuing Zelda. It is so wonderful to see a rescue adopted and by such loving people. A rescued dog seems to know they have been rescued and will always “thank you” for it by being a wonderful companion.)

I’m going to bookmark this site and will check back often to see what you have to say about Zelda. The pictures are terrific.

I live in Rainbow City, AL and, unfortunately, will not be able to visit out there and see the exhibit you’re talking about. But I’m sure it is wonderful.
